In the past few years, we have seen under-funded schools, teacher strikes, low student performance, and low national ranking. This year, our OKCPS’ schools will undergo a major transition to try and shake things up. We believe that the success of this moment in history will depend on how well we mobilize & engage to make educational equity an accessible reality for all of our city’s students. We have many ways for you to jump in, so don’t wait!

Looking for an EASY way to serve as an individual or with a group? Classroom Care Teams are teams of 6 individuals who adopt a classroom to serve for 2 hours per week all year long. Most teams go in pairs allowing it to be a 2 hour per month commitment for each team member. Teams work with the teacher to reinforce classroom concepts, read to small groups of students or serve the teacher however is most needed. The goal is simple, LOVE THE HECK OUT OF TEACHERS SO THEY ARE EXCITED TO SERVE OUR STUDENTS! This is a great way to build relationships & make a SIGNIFICANT difference in our schools!

Love to party or create SUPER SIZED opportunities for fun? Well, this is the team for you. We kick off EVERY year with an EPIC Back to School Bash & then keep up the excitement with special events all year long. Popcorn Fridays, Christmas Party, Test Monitors, Super Kids Day, Teacher Appreciation Week and more! If you can’t commit to regular rotations like Classroom Care Teams, this may be a GREAT way for you to plug in on days where we need a LOT of warm bodies & great coordination.

On average, it costs around $25 per student for us to be able to mobilize significant support and resources around our community students. We think that’s a pretty feasible amount for us to all invest in schools that have been historically under-funded & considered “failing.” It’s an easy way to make a big impact & an investment in the next generation. It’s less than the cost of a soda or coffee each day, but we think the impact is much higher (well, we’ve never seen you without your coffee but we think it’s a fairly safe bet.)

We believe every kid has dignity. Yet, with more than 50% of our community’s students falling below the poverty line we know we have some basic needs to meet for them to feel like that’s true. That’s why we keep a uniform closet & laundry facilities to make sure no kid is ever dirty at school. Every student is given a new clean uniform at Back to School Bash and can snag a clean one while we wash and return theirs anytime they need it! Plus, through our partnership with KeHe Distributors to provide every student with a healthy snack 3x per week. Our partnership with Regional Food Bank lets us send home backpacks of food to students from food scarce homes over weekends and holidays. We always have needs for snacks, food & help getting these to kids!
